Why I Started a Clothing Brand for Short Women
Share
Finding clothes that fit has always been one of my biggest frustrations as a petite woman. At (almost) 150 cm, most trousers were too long, skirts swallowed my frame, and dresses never seemed to sit the way they were supposed to. The “petite” options weren’t much better—often designed for women >160 cm, without considering the proportions of shorter silhouettes.
The Struggle of Petite Women in Fashion
If you’ve ever had to hem every pair of trousers you bought, or felt like clothes were designed for someone else’s body, you know how discouraging shopping can be. The options were limited—you either settled for clothes that didn’t flatter your frame, spent extra money on constant alterations, or turned to the kids’ section, which might have worked if it offered pieces that felt chic and professional. The so-called “petite” departments weren’t much better. Most felt as if regular sizes had just been scaled down slightly in width (if at all), while the lengths still aligned with standard women’s sizing. Every time I tried something from a petite line, I couldn’t help but wonder why don’t designers understand who they’re catering to?
From Frustration to Action
I realised I wasn’t alone. So many women my height were voicing the same struggles online. That’s when the idea hit me: instead of waiting for big brands to notice us, why not create a brand that puts petite women first?
Fosho Petite was born from that belief. Our designs aren’t just “shortened versions” of regular clothes—they’re built with petite proportions in mind from the start.
What Makes Fosho Petite Different
- Proportions that flatter: Waist, hips, and lengths are designed specifically for shorter frames.
- Timeless styles: Classic pieces you can wear for years, not just one season.
- Quality first: Fabrics that feel good, last long, and look polished.
A Community, Not Just a Brand
Fosho Petite is more than clothing—it’s about creating a space where petite women feel seen and celebrated. Every piece is made with the thought:
“Would this make me feel confident and chic without a trip to the tailor?”
Be Part of the Journey
I started this brand because I wanted to solve a problem for myself and for every other woman who has ever felt overlooked by fashion. If you’ve ever had to hem your trousers or felt invisible in the fitting room, this brand is for you.
